Flavonoids are a type of antioxidant that has beneficial anti-inflammatory effects, and they protect your cells from oxidative damage that can lead to disease. Propolis is a super concentrated form of antioxidants...or, we should say, it can be a super concentrated form of antioxidants.
What do we mean by that? Well, not all propolis is created equal and some actually have very low levels of flavonoids. Many things can affect these levels from the quality and variety of flower sources, to the cleanliness of the environment and how well the bees are treated.
At PRI, we test all of our propolis to guarantee you get the best of the best, which you can see in our CPL or "Certified Propolis Levels". Because propolis must first be broken down with alcohol and then with water, and all propolis has naturally varying levels of flavonoids, we must blend and test them to achieve consistent levels.
